The difference between these two pictures is apparently 7 months so there isn't any change in how muscular he is.
Basic physics would say that if he has more mass then he would be able to do more damage meaning #1 should be objectively more intimidating.
Although the tan, muscular definition and sunken eyes appear grim which could be subjectively intimidating.
