I am always looking for constructive criticism about the forum software, and suggestions as to how it may be improved. As you may know, this forum uses the esoBB forum software, of which I am the sole developer, and so this gives me a relative amount of flexibility in fine-tuning the experience so that it may be better for everyone in general.
As such, let this serve as a megathread for suggestions. Ideas for new features to be added to the forum are welcome as well.
Of course, if you are a developer, you are more than welcome to contribute to the source code, which is completely open-source.

dark mode setting, or some sort of sleepy mode
From "my settings" – see pic
Though a dark mode exists, I think it should be possible for users to add custom CSS. It would also be nice if the "dark mode" could be made to match the operating system, or maybe a setting dedicated to this.
The only thing I can think of is the inability to host images on the website, and needing to use a third-party image host, but I can also understand why this would be impractical for storage and cost reasons.
Let us remain respectful in this thread.
On the topic of images, I think they should be cached by the server, and not directly sourced by the client. For obvious reasons

What do you mean by "sourced by the client"? I think images are just being cached by another server, like an image host, and then embedded on here. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

If you open the images URL it leads to wikimedia commons.

Wikimedia's image host is the other server he's talking about. When you upload an image to a website like Imgur, you are using their server to host the image. It doesn't have anything to do with the client.

If one links a tracking pixel, the server that hosts the tracking pixel is the server that I'm talking about. If one links an image from imgur, the users browser, as client, requests said image from imgur. Sending requests to random servers is something we didn't have to do since the 90's.

This is a perfectly valid concern. I have been working on an Attachments plugin (which would let users "attach" both images and other files to their posts) for a few weeks now, and hope to unveil it within the following months.
