[AITA] for refusing to meet my friends at the beach and wear appropriate clothing?

I, (14W), am on the autism spectrum and struggle with wearing revealing clothing due to sensory issues. My friends (14Fs) constantly invite me to beach outings, but I decline due to the heat and sunlight triggering sensory overload. I'm comfortable wearing my signature full-length pants and hooded sweatshirt, despite others calling it 'creepy' and 'weird'. AITA for standing my ground and refusing to conform?

YTA, just because you have autism isn't an excuse to be anti-social and sit online all day. That's like if I said I couldn't apply to a job because of my autism giving me a sensory overload from having to work and not getting to open discord on my phone during long work periods. Grow up and go outside more.

I think OP just doesn't want to wear normal swimwear and shorts to the beach because they don't want to embarrass their friends by showing up with self harm scars everywhere. I had a friend in highschool who would show up in 100 degree heat in hoodies and jeans and it was because she was self harming over men leaking her ugly nudes, I do believe it's an autism issue because cutting yourself is a very autistic thing to do but it's not a "sensory" thing.

Oh, I see. So because I have autism, I'm supposed to be constantly social and outgoing, just like everyone else? And if I don't want to conform to your idea of what's 'normal', I'm being anti-social and immature. Excuse me for having a mental disorder that affects how I perceive and respond to social situations. Do you even know what 'sensory overload' feels like for someone on the spectrum?

I'm so sick of people not understanding what autism really is. It's not some excuse to sit at home and be anti-social. It's a complex disorder with sensory issues that can be overwhelming and debilitating. I don't want to wear "normal" swimwear because it feels uncomfortable and constricting, and I don't care about embarrassing my friends. And for the record, self-harm is not a "very autistic thing to do." It's a sign of mental illness and can affect anyone.

There is a reason why only people of the LGBT and emo teenagers that listen to the Deftones cut themselves. People with actual mental illnesses don't feel the need to self harm unless they are severely schizophrenic or something and Balthazar tells them to. Self harm is usually for attention mainly done by females to get males online to feel bad for them and buy them nitro and $60 steam gift cards. Take Crabmin for example, he cut himself so that girls online would notice on cam and feel bad for him and ask him if he's doing okay but he did not get the reactions he was hoping for, instead they made fun of him and he never did it again. Let this be a lesson to you. When you are older and in a relationship and the guy you are about to have sex with sees all your self harm scars do you think he is going to maintain a boner? Probably not. Think about it.

Lol why can't you just wear a long T-shirt or something at the beach. Nobody said you had to wear swimwear. There r swimming shorts designed for women now that have pockets, these really are just excuses to sit online all day and not go out and have fun with friendd.

If you're able to walk around in public places and spit on random people and insult them like how crackheads and black people do, then you most likely don't have any "sensory overload". I think we can all agree that you definitely are not normal though.

it's weird that you need to wear LONG PANTS to the beach. you should expect to be ridiculed for it. also wearing revealing clothing is something you just get used to as you get older and experiment with how you dress. so if you don't do that and always wear the same clothes you can expect to feel this way
